Project details
During the construction of the new Juliana lock by VOBI Beton- en Waterbouw, an inspection was first carried out, followed by a sounding at the future location of the traffic portal. The inspection of the portal location was carried out by AGMI, after which engineering firm Fugro performed the soil investigation. Based on the soil investigation data, Fugro also calculated the foundations for the traffic portal.
The sounding report and the foundation calculation showed that the soil conditions around the lock did not provide the necessary strength, which meant that it was not possible to vibrate the foundations into place. In consultation with the Province of South Holland, together with the company Van Leeuwen, supplier of steel pipe components, a different technique was chosen: drilling the foundations.
In the meantime, EPC (Electronic Power Control) realized an extension in the control cabinet of an existing rotation panel in order to loop the control signal to the new control cabinet of the rotation panel at the Juliana lock. Heijmans laid the control and power cables for this.
After the foundations had been measured by the LBA project office, AGMI started production of the Cradle to Cradle VICA portal and the rotation panel.
When one of the two locks opens, the rotating panel changes position and traffic is directed to the other lock crossing. To increase road users' awareness, flashers have been installed on the rotating panel, which flash when one of the two locks opens. Heijmans applied for the necessary traffic measures and then installed the portal, the control box, and the rotating panel.
All in all, this was a multifaceted project involving many different AGMI products, realized in part thanks to expert partners.
After the foundations were measured by project agency LBA, AGMI started production of the Cradle to Cradle VICA portal and the rotating panel.
