Signage directs visitors to Arcen and Well straight to the correct car park

For car parks in Arcen and Well, AGMI commissioned by the client to produce gantries and signs that direct visitors to the correct parking areas, depending on the nature of their visit. Clear signage and QR code navigation ensure that long-stay parkers end up in the right place and that others parking spaces remain available for short-stay visitors.

Background

Not every parking space is suitable for all day parking. Visitors who are spending the day walking or cycling have different parking needs form visitors who are staying for a short time. Without clear guidance, long-stay visitors may occupy spaces intended for shorter stays, putting pressure on the available capacity for other visitors.

The approach

A portal has been installed at the parking areas with a clear message: visitors spending the day walking or cycling can park for free at the VlP (Long-Stay Parking) area at Hamert P2/Seurenheide. By scanning the QR code on the portal, visitors are taken directly to the route to this parking area.

At the VlP location itselfs, a sign stating ''you're at the golden P'' confirms that visitors are in the right place for long-term parking.

At the lock in Well, a sperate sign has also been installed indicating that parking with a trailer, caravan or camper is permitted at that location. This keeps the capacity at these parking spaces available for their intended use.

Implementation

For this project, AGMI was responsible for the production and installation, based on the artwork supplied by the customer. This can also be handled differently depending on the requirements of the project: AGMI's in-house graphic design department can take care of the design.

Why this is relevant for road authorities and municipalities

This project demonstrates how targeted signage and digital support, such as QR navigation, can help distribute parking capacity more effictively. For locations with different types of visitors and varying lengths of stay, this provides as way to manage capacity without the need for additional infrastructure.
